An outline of the Professional Development
System (PDP)
The PDP in ISABS begins at the Pre-Professional
Development Stage and terminates the attainment of professional
Membership.The program is divided into three stages:
Pre-Professional Development Stage (PPD)
Professional Development Stage (PD)
Internship Stage
- PPD Stage
This stage begins with a Basic Lab in Human
Processes(BLHP) which is a six day Laboratory and goes on to another
one week Advanced Lab in Human Processes(ALHP).On completion of ALHP
and on recommendation from the facilitator who conducted the
ALHP,the candidate moves on to PPD Stage.There cannot be more than
two years' gap between BLHP,ALHP and Phase A which marks the
beginning of the PPD.
- PD Stage
- Phase A
On being satisfied with the fulfillment of the prescribed
requirements for entry into PD in all respects,the candidates
registers himself/herself at an Event where Phase A program
is being conducted.Phase A involves full participation in the
two week intensive laboratory. Post Phase A lab,the candidate is expected
to do some inter phase work of minimum 120 hours acquiring
knowledge through reading of recommended books/articles,field
projects and maintenance of logs.
- Phase B
On certification by the Dean,PD,of the completion of
the prescribed requirements of Phase when he/she sends a clear
invitation to the candidate to join Phase B and participates in the
two week intensive laboratory of ISABS along with completing other
recommended work.
- Internship Stage
When the Dean,PD,offers a definite direction to the candidate to
carry on with the work of the Internship Stage the candidate
participates in the two-week intensive lab or workshop
offered by ISABS.The equivalent amount of work can be undertaken
elsewhere outside the National Events in Regional Events or by
associating with other Professional Members in work
assignments.Equivalence should be granted by Dean ,PD on reviewing
the quality and quantity of work that the candidate has put in.
- Professional Membership
After obtaining certification from the Dean,PD,of the
candidate having completed all the requirements the candidate has to
apply for Professional Membership with recommendations from atleast
three Professional members and submit particulars of all other
requirements.The Professional Development Committee (PDC) shall
review and take a decision to recommend or not to the Executive
Board.If it does not recommend,the Dean,PD,will indicate it to the
candidate.If the PDC recommends the candidature,the Dean,PD,will
present the case to the Executive Board with the recommendations of
the PDC.The Executive Board reviews the case and makes the final
decision.
